Growing Readers = Young Children
An initiative that provides professional development training for child care educators to improve the quality of literacy interactions between adults and young children. This program also develops quality multilingual classroom lending libraries so families with young children can borrow books, build literacy development, and share the joy of reading at home.
Early Words
An initiative that strengthens increased verbal interactions between adults and very young children. The program provides workshops for parents and family members highlighting the importance of talking, reading and singing with young children to increase language development during everyday activities.
Parent Literacy Leadership Initiative
A citywide leadership training, coaching and mentoring program that develops a diverse cohort of parents with the capacity to organize and lead literacy workshops for other parents in their communities, intentionally reaching multilingual and under-served families.
